Chemists Celebrate Earth Week (CCEW) occurs annually during the week surrounding Earth Day (April 22). The goal is to communicate the work that chemists do every day for the environment through a series of chemistry-related events. The theme in 2019 is "Take Note: The Chemistry of Paper." National Chemistry Week (NCW) occurs annually during the week surrounding Mole Day (October 23). The goal is to promote the importance of chemistry in every day life as we unite interested groups and individuals in a series of chemistry-related events. The theme in 2019 is "Marvelous Metals". The US National Chemistry Olympiad (USNCO) is an ACS-sponsored multi-tiered competition designed to stimulate and promote achievement in high school chemistry. It is an annual competition administered each spring. For more information, please email our USNCO Coordinator.

The ACS Program-In-a-Box (PIB) is a webinar put our biannually by the national ACS, once in the spring and once in the fall. Our local YCC hosts and provides free food at a viewing party for each PIB. A local expert is usually invited to answer to your questions. These are open to all science lovers!

When the weather gets warm we chemists like to step out of the labs, classrooms, and offices and enjoy the sun and fresh air. Once each summer we host a barbecue at a local park to enjoy some good food, greet old friends, and meet new ones. Join us when the grill is hot!
